And after the successful concert

Came a report from doctors

And education experts who saw

Once useless limbs and stifled lungs

Producing fine and beautiful music and more!

Among them, at vice president,

Dr. Helen  Watson's invitation,

Was the Borough Medical Officer of Health.

Dr. Watson summed up the work of the club,

Saying that besides the obvious physical advantages,

Mentally it was important "because it makes the players

Feel they have a place in society, gives them contact with others,

And helps them overcome any feeling of frustration

Because they are not able to do what others can do."

And during that Christmas,

The children had a special surprise,

A television was lent to them

By a Walthamstow firm, who had just become wise,

And they settled down to watch

Their own recorded television performance

In the BBC's  Children's Magazine.

By this time the club felt

It was ready to help outsiders.

Mr. Lyon wrote to the Matron

Of Dr. Bernardo's Homes in Woodford Bridge,

(Where I once lived - 69 Uplands Road)

And arranged tuition for some of

John Capel Hanbury Hospital for children.
